Turner Valley Gas Plant

On May 14, 1914, wet natural gas sprayed out of the well bore at the Calgary Petroleum Products No. 1 Well (more commonly known as the Dingman #1 Discovery Well). This discovery led to the development of the Province's first natural gas processing plant. The Turner Valley Gas Plant operated for nearly 70 years, closing in 1985. It is now a Provincial Historic Site.
